ST. EUPHRASIA SCHOOL CARLINE
The
school’s carline procedure is implemented daily to ensure the safety and
security of our students. ALL
PARENTS MUST USE THE CARLINE. The
safety of our students depends on all drivers following these procedures. Please note that the new traffic pattern will
be the same for morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, rainy day and hot day
carlines.
All cars (regardless of direction of travel) will stop at
the intersection of Mayerling and Shoshone to turn onto Mayerling and enter the
school grounds. All cars will exit out
the Shoshone gates and will proceed south onto Shoshone. Cars may only turn right onto Shoshone, as
they exit the school yard. No students
or parents will be allowed to walk out the Mayerling/Shoshone gates. Pedestrian traffic will continue to use the
Mayerling entrance to the school. The
diagram of the carline traffic flow is on the reverse side of this document,
for your convenience. Please refer to
it!
MAYERLING ST. SCHOOL ENTRANCE: Children are NEVER dropped off or picked up here and NEVER dropped off to cross the street
alone. It is a designated RED ZONE and it is illegal
to park there! This
is for pedestrian and bicycle traffic ONLY at all times. Children who walk home are to stay on the walkway and
to use the crosswalks at the corner.
TRAFFIC FLOWING NORTH
on Shoshone will STOP at the
intersection of Mayerling and Shoshone, at the 4-way STOP sign. Cars will turn left onto Mayerling, taking
turns at the intersection, following the expected procedures of a 4-way STOP
intersection. Cars will then proceed ½
block (on Mayerling) to the school’s Mayerling Gate entrance and turn right
into the school. Drivers will then proceed
in a single line of traffic (forward in the coned/marked lanes) to create a
single line of waiting cars. Cars will
then exit onto Shoshone through the south gate (near the Church), making a
right turn only.
TRAFFIC FLOWING SOUTH
on Shoshone will STOP at the
intersection of Mayerling and Shoshone, at the 4-way STOP sign. Cars will turn right onto Mayerling, taking
turns at the intersection, following the expected procedures of a 4-way STOP
intersection. Cars will then proceed ½
block (on Mayerling) to the school’s Mayerling Gate entrance and turn right
into the school.
TRAFFIC FLOWING WEST
on Shoshone will STOP at the
intersection of Mayerling and Shoshone, at the 4-way STOP sign. Cars will proceed through the intersection,
taking turns at the intersection,. Cars
will then proceed to the school’s Mayerling Gate entrance and turn right into
the school.
TRAFFIC FLOWING EAST
on Shoshone will proceed to the Mayerling Gate entrance and make a left
turn into the school yard, following all expected rules of traffic.
MORNING CARLINE (DROP-OFF):
Students will exit their cars, with the assistance of the carline parents. The students will then walk directly to their
classroom line-up area.
AFTERNOON CARLINE (PICK-UP): The carline gates will be opened at 2:35 p.m.
daily. This will allow cars to proceed
into the yard early so that waiting cars on the street can be minimized. The dismissal bell is rung at 2:40 p.m. Cars entering the yard will be expected
to stay within the lane lines that are marked by the traffic cones. School staff and carline volunteers will use
the school’s 2-way radios to alert students that a car is waiting. Those students will then be sent to the
student waiting area for assistance into the waiting car.
At
no time will students be allowed to cross over in front of/behind waiting cars. This policy will mean that all
students will enter/exit from the driver side. If a student is seated on the passenger side,
a carline parent will stop the flow of traffic to allow the student to cross
the line of traffic safely. Students may only cross the line of traffic if
they are accompanied by an adult.
All drivers must pull forward as indicated by school staff/carline
volunteers. Cars will exit the school
grounds using the Shoshone gate, making a right turn only.
EAST SIDE OF SHOSHONE:
This area is reserved for church and rectory parking.
AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITY: Any student who
remains at school for special activities/sports is to report to their designated classroom assembly area. They will be directed where to go by their
teacher. Any child who is not picked up
by 3:00 p.m. will be signed into
Extended Day Care where a fee is charged.
